How to Take a Full-Page Screenshot of a Website on Mac
Want the whole webpage in one image, top to bottom? Here's how to take a full-page screenshot of a website on your Mac.
How do I screenshot an entire webpage on a Mac?
The Mac's built-in screenshot only grabs the visible window. To capture a full webpage you can use your browser's built-in full-page capture — Safari, Chrome, and Firefox each have a way — or a scrolling-capture app like Shotstrix that works beyond the browser too.
Safari
Enable the Develop menu (Safari → Settings → Advanced → Show features for web developers), open the Web Inspector, right-click the top <html> element, and choose Capture Screenshot. Or use File → Export as PDF for a PDF of the whole page.
Chrome & Firefox
In Chrome, open DevTools (Cmd + Opt + I), open the command menu (Cmd + Shift + P), and run "Capture full size screenshot." Firefox has it built in: right-click the page and choose Take Screenshot → Save full page.
The simplest way: Shotstrix
Those browser tricks only work on web pages. Shotstrix's scrolling capture grabs a full webpage and stitches it into one PNG — and it also works on anything else that scrolls, like a document or a chat. See our scrolling screenshot guide.

Frequently asked questions
Can Safari take a full-page screenshot? +
Yes — via the Web Inspector's Capture Screenshot on the top html element, or File → Export as PDF. Shotstrix does it without touching developer tools.
What's the difference between full-page and scrolling capture? +
They're the same idea — capturing beyond the visible screen. "Full-page" usually means a webpage; scrolling capture, like Shotstrix's, works on any scrollable area.
Is there a free tool for full-page screenshots? +
Yes — Shotstrix captures full pages for free, in the browser and beyond.
